Developmental/Behavioral Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – will work under the supervision of a Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrician to provide written, telephone, fax and/or email consultation to primary care clinicians who refer SoonerCare eligible children and youth to the Section of Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics and/or serve children and youth with special health care needs.   The consultation will include technical assistance regarding best practices relating to developmental and/or behavioral screening, diagnosis, ongoing health care, community resources and supports.  Consultation includes, but is not limited to, understanding, assistance and implementation of recommended services, needed resources and supports; referral and appointment status, referral outcome and recommended follow-up; monitoring implementation of ongoing therapy (psychological, drug, developmental, etc.).  The Developmental/Behavioral Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will work closely with the Section of Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics Family Partner to provide written, telephone, fax and/or email supports to the families of SoonerCare eligible children and youth referred to the Section.  The consultation will include contact between initial referral date and the date the patient is seen by the Section clinicians to refine and expand the referral issue, support during evaluation and diagnosis and follow-up to access recommended services.  Additional responsibilities include working with a community-based primary care provider training initiative regarding early screening and diagnosis of children suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder.
